Morag Paterson and Ted Leeming are internationally recognised for their impressionist style photography using ICM techniques but their expertise and style also embraces a wide range of experimental and abstract techniques and a key impetus or intent of any workshop with them is to help participants get in touch with their own inner creativity with a view to developing individual style. Responding to any given venue regardless of the conditions encountered is one of their specialities and certainly doesn’t rule out getting that must-have classic image of the more well known locations visited on any of their tours.

Run by award winning photography team Ted Leeming and Morag Paterson, and set in the beautiful and largely untouched Dumfries and Galloway countryside this wonderful weekend workshop take in rivers, hills, glens, marshland and woodland in a county that is undoubtedly one of Scotland’s undiscovered gems. It’s not unusual here to walk for hours without coming across a road or dwelling, let alone human beings.

After a meeting and briefing on Friday evening the workshops continue with a morning tutorial session covering their unique blend of abstract and ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) photography. These are designed to be two-way, involving participants in discussion and question/answer opportunities. Generally the rest of the time will be spent at venues/on location where Ted and Morag will spend time with each individual.

Group sizes are kept small, with a maximum of 6 people with one photographer or 8 with two.

Unless otherwise stated all our workshops are suitable for beginner/intermediate/advanced photographers. If you Ted and Morag will even guide you towards tutorials in preparation for your workshop. During the workshop you will study the in-camera exposure techniques necessary to create beautiful abstract art, using nearby locations such as lakes, sea, forest and river, and work on the post processing techniques to enhance those images. Every participant will receive a DVD of any tutorials at the end of the workshop. Ted and Morag, with their typically relaxed and friendly approach, will ensure you make the most of your time with them, taking you through the process from capture to print. A pearl of a workshop in a stunning area.

The Galloway Forest Park offers spectacular photographic locations and a diversity of dramatic scenery. Three hundred square miles of wild beauty are waiting to be explored in what is Britain’s largest forest park.
