FAQ

If you're thinking of booking an Ocean Capture photography tour or workshop, especially for the first time, you may have a few questions. Below are some of the most frequently asked, but if you have a question that's not featured, please don't hesitate to contact us.

When and how do I pay?

You can pay the deposit online via Paypal by following the 'book now' button. If you prefer you can pay the deposit by bank transfer to a euro or sterling account. 6-8 weeks before your trip you will be sent a balance request by email. You can pay the balance either by bank transfer or credit card using Paypal (Paypal details on www.paypal.com) or if you would like to pay in pounds sterling then by bank transfer to our UK account with the exchange rate calculated the day of the transaction using XE.com. Whichever method you decide on, you will be sent the appropriate details.

how do I book?

Please book using the automated system on the website, as it is updated every day. If you encounter any difficulties in doing so, please contact us and we will send you the appropriate form to complete and email back. You can also call us on 0033 671 003 769. 8 weeks before the trip we'll send you some more info - what to bring etc - and at this point it would be time for you to pay the balance on your trip. As soon as you have all your travel details, please send them to us so we can organise airport pick-ups etc.

Is my deposit refundable if I have to cancel?

The deposit is non-refundable. If you have paid the total amount for your trip and have to cancel you will unfortunately not be entitled to a refund, as we will still have to pay the travel, hotel and tutor costs. We advise you to take out insurance for your trip against flight delays and other eventualities that may prevent you from being able to take part.

I’d like to bring my partner along - is this possible?

Yes absolutely, although the cost of this does depend on whether the trip is a tour involving one hotel (eg. Venice), for which there would be a small supplement to cover the couples room rate and breakfast, or a single vehicle and a few different hotels (eg. Iceland 360) where in fact your partner is taking a photographers place and would be charged accordingly. Just let us know which trip you're interested in and we will work out a cost for your partner.

What is the difference between a workshop and a tour?

A workshop generally caters for smaller groups ranging in level from beginner to pro and covers every aspect of fine art landscape photography, with more hands-on tuition from the workshop leader, and covering editing and processing thoroughly, with regular sessions , slideshows, demos and techniques. A tour is generally for the more experienced photographers who wish to be 'at the right place at the right time' and have a professional photographer on hand at all times to give direction and offer help when needed. There will generally be at least one session of editing and processing, where the tour leader will run through a few techniques relevant to the type of photography the tour requires. In brief the tour concentrates more on the locations whereas the workshop may be 50/50 location to processing time.

What do I need to bring?

You will receive a full list of 'essentials' of both equipment and clothing when you sign up for a photo workshop or tour. Don't worry, though, it's all pretty standard stuff. If you havent received this information and you need it urgently, please just let us know and we will send the list straight out to you by email.

Do I have to use accomodation included, or can I make my own arrangments?

For a static workshop involving one hotel (Venice, Abstract Photography Weekends, White Horses of the Camargue etc) you can certainly make your own arrangements, and the price of the trip would change accordingly. If you need any help finding accommodation, we may be able to help. For the longer tours involving more than one hotel however, finding your own accommodation would not be recommended. Please email us for details.

I would like to make sure I have a single occupancy room rather than share - is this possible?

All our tours and workshops offer single occupancy as standard - there is no more to pay. Couples are of course welcome so please contact us to enquire about the reduced rate.

Can I stay extra nights at the hotel?

Yes absolutely. Just email us with your requirements and we'll sort it out for you as we may benefit from a better rate than the hotel generally offers.
