ITINERARY

WHAT TO EXPECT On a typical photography holiday here you can expect the following (example using a 5 day break):

ARRIVAL DAY - Pick up from the airport. Back to the hotel to settle in, then a briefing by Jonathan to discuss the next five days shooting. Your evening will be yours to wander around the town or along the lake, maybe grabbing a bite at one of the bistros and restaurants in the town centre.

DAY ONE - BEACHES & DUNES. Early start to visit the first of the locations - beaches, sand dunes and small fishing boats on the lake. 2 hours shooting and then breakfast in a little café – time to talk and review. Then another shoot, light permitting, in a copse of geometrically planted poplar trees. After a break for lunch and a few hours free time, you will be off to Jonathan’s studio for a talk and editing demo, then downloading and editing your own images on the workstations provided, all equipped with the latest versions of Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop. There will be different techniques demoed by Jonathan all week. Back to the hotel for 19.00 then your evening is your own - perhaps just kick back with a bottle of local wine and some good food...

DAY TWO - GUETHARY & ST JEAN DE LUZ. 7am start, heading off on a 5 minute drive to the fishing village of Guethary, and then along the coast to St Jean de Luz, stopping at several wonderful locations, including dramatic cliffs with striated rock formations, rocky coves, fishing villages, town squares and great beaches. We get back late morning, and then you can enjoy your freetime until 15.30 when it’s back to Jonathan’s studio again for more editing work until 19.00.

DAY THREE - LAKES & FOREST. Morning only. We'll be off on a short drive to shoot nearby lakes (jetties, boats, submerged posts) and forest paths. Back to the office for editing until lunchtime, then the afternoon and evening are your own.

DAY FOUR - PYRENEES ADVENTURE. Early start, off to the beautiful mountains of the Pyrenees. Hills, mountain streams, single trees in sloping fields, waterfalls - a fantastic morning out! We'll be back at 13.00, then at 15.30 it’s once again back to the studio for edits and techniques. The evening is free for you to relax.

DAY FIVE - RIVERS & STREAMS. A short trip to take in some of the rivers, streams and tree-lined canals, with little fishing boats, fishermen, bridges and cypress, willow and cedar trees. Back to the studio in the afternoon for editing and final evaluations.

DEPARTURE DAY - Free time until it's time to head off to the airport or station for your return journey home.

The above schedule is an example, and may vary according to time of year and weather conditions. In the unlikely event of very bad weather, I will make every attempt to adapt the shooting schedule accordingly. The 3 day and weekend workshops work much in the same way.
